Rainy Autumn AirBnB Micro wedding

You may ask yourself, “What if it rains on my wedding day?” Well, this is your sign to embrace it, even if we’re getting married outdoors. While safety is always a priority and we will never expose you to dangerous conditions, a light rain is not only harmless, but such a lovely memory. In this case, we did change my arrival time to 2 hours earlier to avoid the worst of the afternoon storms.

I drove up to Winter Park, Colorado, past winding continental divide passes and swaths of autumn leaves. The end of September is peak fall colors season in most of high elevation Colorado, and the leaves had changed nearly overnight. We got ready at Gabrielle & Zach’s AirBnBs, then headed to the ceremony site on public land nearby. They chose not to do a first look, so Zach waited with his back turned at the end of our makeshift aisle. His reaction was so beautiful, and I nearly crumpled then and there. The rain was a steady drizzle, then picked up at the very end of their ceremony. Our original plan was to do family photos and their private vows after the ceremony, but no way was that happening! We headed back to the AirBnB to dry off and wait it out, then headed back out once it had cleared. After their private vows and couples photos, we celebrated the two of them with a candlelit dinner made by the private chef.
